Intro / exterior
Here we have this gorgeous looking wide bodied 996 Carrera 4S, finished in the timeless combination of black-on-black and specified with sought after optional equipment. In December 2008, the Porsche had a new engine fitted, meaning the engine has covered 66k miles and has the later, stronger IMS bearing configuration. The previous owner has also spent £14,000 in his 5 years of ownership (detailed below), so the car is in tip-top condition. Interestingly, this Carrera 4S is finished in non-metallic black (colour coder LO41), which is an uncommon paint colour, particularly amongst the later 996s. Notably, the car is a non-sun roof model, which presents a clean, sleek looking roof line. The coachwork is beautifully straight throughout with no dings or dents to take away from the fantastic curves of the wide body. The car has benefitted from our usual day's worth of FGP detailing, leaving a beautifully presented 911. The original wide body turbo alloy wheels are beneath the car, which are in very good condition and have Pirelli P Zero tyres to the front with 5-6mm of tread and Falken to the rear with 3-4mm.
The black leather interior looks very well having suffered little wear and no damage. Even the the normal wear points such as the drivers side bolstering and the steering wheel show minimal signs of wear and areas such as the headlining and carpets etc look nearly new. Everything inside works as Porsche intended for it to and as noted above, there are desirable optional extras specified with the car such as; alcantara headlining, stainless steel "Carrera 4S" door shuts, Tequipment aluminium embodied handbrake and gearstick, 8 way adjustment electric seats with memory positioning, Bose sound system with subwoofer, and Litronic xenon headlights. There are two operational remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, XLF, X70, X97, X98, 425, 567, 680, 692.
As per the advert title, this 996 C4S has had £14,000 spent on it's maintenance in the last 5 years, which is detailed below in the "service history" section. As such, the Porsche drives superbly and without fault. It also had a new engine fitted on 05/12/2008 at 59,974 miles, which means it has the later, strengthened IMS bearing configuration, which Porsche introduced to their engines in the latter part of 2005. The flat 6 engine performs as it should with a silky smooth idle, crisp rev and bundles of power. There are no leaks present and nor is there any smoke or abnormal noises emitted. A beautiful sound is produced through the sports 200 cel catalytic converters and the sports stainless steel back-boxes that are fitted. The manual gearbox changes through all six speeds smoothly and the clutch is light having been renewed 16,000 miles ago. The C4S shares it's brakes with the 996 Turbo with the large 330mm discs, which have tremendous stopping power and have lots of life remaining, with all the discs and pads replaced within the last 16,000 miles. The Porsche handles incredibly well, benefitting from most of its suspension components being renewed during the last keeper's ownership. (detailed below).
