Here we have this gorgeous looking wide bodied 996 Carrera 4S. Finished in the timeless combination of black-on-black and specified with sought after options, this example is a highly desirable Porsche. Being a 2004 model, this particular car was one of the last 996s produced before the 997 was introduced on the "54" registration. Notably, the car is a non-sun roof model, which presents a clean, sleek looking roof line. The coachwork is beautifully straight throughout with no dings or dents to take away from the fantastic curves of the wide body. The Basalt Black (colour code LC9Z) paintwork has an eye catching glossy finish and is without scratches or damage. There are some very minor stone chips to the nose of the car, but this is all in the way of imperfections. We have given the Porsche a full body soft machine polish and hand wax so the car is free from any swirl marks and the paintwork is protected. The original wide body turbo alloy wheels are on the car, which are in very good condition and have Continental Sport Contact tyres fitted with very good tread.
The black leather interior looks very well having suffered little wear and no damage. Even the the normal wear points such as the drivers side bolstering and the steering wheel show minimal signs of wear and areas such as the headlining and carpets etc look nearly new. Everything inside works as Porsche intended for it to and as noted above, there are desirable optional extras specified with the car such as; alcantara headlining, stainless steel "Carrera 4S" door shuts, Tequipment aluminium embodied handbrake and gearstick, heated seats with 8 way electrical adjustment and memory positioning, Bose sound system with subwoofer. There are two operational remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, X70, X97, X98, 342, 425, 446, 567, 635, 680, 692, 09991.
As per the advert title, this 996 C4S has had over £13,000 spent on it's maintenance since 2012, which is detailed below in the "service history" section. As such, the Porsche drives superbly and without fault. The flat 6 engine performs as it should with a silky smooth idle, crisp rev and bundles of power. There are no leaks present and nor is there any smoke or abnormal noises emitted. The manual gearbox changes through all six speeds smoothly and the clutch operates as it should, having been renewed at the Porsche main dealer 23,000 miles ago. The C4S shares it's brakes with the 996 Turbo with the large 330mm discs, which have tremendous stopping power and benefitted from new front discs and pads 11,000 miles / 1 year ago. The Porsche handles very well, with the 4S models boasting a stiffer chassis than the standard Carrera models. This example feels beautifully tight and there are no untoward noises from the suspension when tackling bumps in the roads.
There is an almighty servicing record with the Porsche, which includes a hard-backed folder filled with organised paperwork evidencing the £13,000 worth of maintenance works since 2012. There is also most of the MOTs, HPI reports, sales invoices and the original leather Porsche wallet with the original owners manuals and the maintenance booklet.
The service intervals are as follows: 05/09/2006 - 22,345 miles, 08/12/2008 - 30,923 miles, 25/09/2012 - 38,131 miles, 25/09/2012 - 53,711 miles, 21/05/2015 - 56,858 miles, 21/03/2016 - 59,881 miles, 12/10/2017 - 63,207 miles, 28/06/2018 - 68,664 miles, 18/03/2019 - 74,422 miles.
Some of the noteworthy works carried out on the car in the last few years include; front brake discs and pads, wheel bearings, spark plugs, wheel alignment, drivers door latch, 2x air conditioning condensers, brake fluid, brake lines, clutch kit, clutch spring, water pump. The large majority of the works have been carried out by the Porsche main dealer and accompanying the invoices are Porsche health check reports where Porsche have used a "traffic light" check list system to indicate if/what work needs completing on the car.
