Intro / Exterior
Here we have a fabulous example of the Porsche 996 Carrera 4. The coachwork of the car is in wonderful condition, with pin-straight body panels, no untoward scrapes or scratches, and few minor stone chips to the nose. Finished in Basalt Black (paint colour code L744), the paint-work presents very well, with a fantastic deep metallic shine, having been subject to our usual FGP day's worth of detailing. Beneath the car lay its original Porsche BBS, "Turbo Twist" alloys, which are in lovely condition, free from any curb marks. The tyres fitted are Continental Conti Sports with 5mm of tread to the front, and Michelin Pilot Sports with 5mm of tread to the rear.
Interior / Spec
Inside the car is a Graphite Grey interior that compliments the black exterior wonderfully. The overall condition inside is very good, with no notable damage and only minimal wear to note. The seats show minimal wear, including to the most prone wear points, such as the driver's side bolstering. The alcantara suede headlining is as new and the carpets, dashboard and door cards are also all in fabulous condition. All the electrical functions work just as they are supposed to, including the electric retractable sun-roof and the air conditioning system, which blows ice-cool thanks to the new condensers we have just fitted. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, X54, X71, 236, 375, 376, 413, 425, 490, 498, 567, 650, 659, 662, 689, 936, 981, 982, 09991.
Mechanics / Drive
The Carrera 4 is in exceptional mechanical condition, having clearly been cared for meticulously by its previous custodians, evidenced by the extensive service history folder that's present. The engine performs faultlessly with a lovely smooth idle, a beautiful noise and acceleration to match. It is free from leaks, doesn't emit smoke or untoward noises and is free from IMS bearing concerns, having had the EPS cylindrical upgraded unit installed by us in preparation for sale. The gearbox also operates just as Porsche intended with a smooth and positive change through all six speeds and the clutch is light and bites as it should, having been renewed along with the rear main oil seal when completing the IMS works. The brakes have great feel and stopping power, with the front discs and pads having been renewed within the last 4,000 miles. The handling is superb, with tight suspension and steering, and masses of grip and traction provided by the four-wheel drive system.
