Intro / exterior
Presented here is a Carrera 4S specified in the sought after manual, coupe guise, in exceptional condition, both aesthetically and mechanically. We have carried out all our usual preparation processes, including the IMS bearing upgrade, so this is not of concern with this particular car. The coachwork of the wide bodied 911 is beautiful clean and straight along all body panels. The paint-work is equally good and Arctic Silver (colour code L92U) is a colour that suits the wide bodied 996 superbly. The original Porsche BBS wide body wheels lay beneath the Porsche and are in very good presentable order. The tyres fitted are are Michelin Pilot Sports with 5-6mm of tread to the rear and 7mm to the front.
Inside the cabin is a black leather interior, which sits alongside the silver exterior very well. The condition of the leather is very good throughout with minimal wear, even to the most common wear points such as the handbrake and drivers side bolster. Areas such as the carpets, dashboard and door-cards have worn their years brilliantly and all of the electrical functions are without fault, including the air conditioning system and the retractable sun-roof. There is some nice optional spec equipped, such as xenon litronic headlights, 8 way electric seats with memory function, suede alcantara headlining, Porsche crested head rests, seat heating, Tequipment aluminium embodied handbrake and gear stick, Bose sound system with built in sub woofer, and Porsche switchable exhaust.
Mechanically speaking the Porsche is a credit to its previous owners, who have cared for it meticulously and only had it maintained by Porsche main dealers or Porsche independent specialists. The engine starts, idles and performs as Porsche intended, with the Porsche switchable sports exhaust system producing a symphony of flat 6 engine sound. As noted in the title, we have just upgraded the IMS bearing to the EPS cylindrical bearing, giving peace of mind to the car's next owner. The gearbox provides positive gear changes and the clutch is beautifully light, having been renewed by us while the IMS bearing works were being completed. The brakes on the car are in good condition with recently renewed front pads which stop the car sharply. The suspension is tight, without any unwanted noises over bumps and provides great confidence to the driver when handling in a spirited manner.
There is an impeccable service history, with all 17 service intervals stamped in the maintenance booklet carried out by Porsche main dealers or Porsche independent specialists. There is also a hard-back folder full of paperwork such as invoices for works, sales invoices and MOT certificates. There is of course also the original owners leather wallet with all of the original owners manuals present.
The service intervals read as follows: 28/10/2003 - 7,288 miles, 07/10/2004 - 9,866 miles, 05/11/2005 - 17,054 miles, 15/01/2007 - 21,382 miles, 11/09/2008 - 32,577 miles, 08/01/2010 - 46,753 miles, 17/02/2011 - 53,057 miles, 13/02/2012 - 58,167 miles, 18/03/2013 - 66,502 miles, 05/04/2014 - 70,485 miles, 23/09/2015 - 76,157 miles, 22/11/2016 - 77,034 miles, 26/07/2017 - 79,031 miles, 10/09/2018 - 82,273 miles, 13/05/2019 - 84,253 miles, 05/05/2020 - 86,255 miles, 26/11/2020 - 87,454 miles.
As noted above, the car has just undergone a service while in with us and this was a "major" interval. We have also upgraded the IMS bearing, renewed the clutch and the rear main oil seal. Some other recent works that have been actioned other than routine servicing include; renewal of engine mounts, heater matrix, exhaust fitting kit, exhaust back box repairs, renewal of power steering pipes, power steering rack, front brake pads, air con pipe, air con system re-gas.
