Intro / exterior
Beautiful Porsche 996 Carrera 4S, in the classy colour combination of Seal Grey (colour code 6B4) with black leather interior, which benefitted from a new engine at the Porsche main dealer at 34,000 miles (due to IMS bearing failure), meaning it has the later, improved variation of the IMS bearing and shaft configuration. 8 months ago this car went to "RPM" and had all and every mechanical imperfection ironed out for the cost of £3,142.86. The bodywork of the Porsche is superb and the car has benefitted from a soft headed machine polish and hand wax while in with us, protecting and emphasising the beautiful condition of the Seal Grey paintwork. Being very highly critical, there is a small hazing to the nose of the front bumper, but this is hardly noticeable. The headlights are clean and clear without any of the common yellow coloured oxidisation. The original, genuine Porsche Turbo/4S wide bodied alloy wheels are on the car and all four are in lovely condition with N rated Michelin tyres fitted with very good tread to the front and the rears covering less than 1,000 miles.
Inside the Porsche is a timeless, desirable black leather interior, which is also found in exceptional condition throughout. Usual wear points such as the seat side bolstering and steering wheel etc have very minimal signs of wear and things such as the carpets and headlining are as-new. Everything inside functions as intended by Porsche, including the air conditioning system. There are two keys with the car, both operational remote key fobs. The Porsche is of a high specification, including optional extras such as; sports hard backed seats with shoulder supports, Porsche crested head-rests, alcantara suede headlining, "Tequipment" aluminium embodied handbrake, gearstick and silver coloured centre console & dial surrounds, PCM satellite navigation system, Bose sound package with built in sub-woofer, Litronic xenon headlights, PSE (Porsche switchable exhaust and cruise control. In addition to these options, the car has been fitted with an alcantara Porsche steering wheel, which is a lovely touch. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, XCA, XCB, XCD, XCE, XLF, XPG, XSC, X97, X98, X99, 265, 266, 288, 375, 376, 09991.
The Carrera 4S drives like a low mileage Porsche should. The flat 6 3.6 litre engine that has covered just 30,000 miles starts, idles and performs on the road perfectly, with no oil leaks present, no smoke emitted from the rear and brilliant power. The PSE (Porsche switchable exhaust) provides a gorgeous sound-track when switched to sports mode, but provides a modest exhaust note when turned off. The clutch and flywheel are brand new so the clutch bite is perfect and the gearbox changes through the six speeds seamlessly. The large 4S/Turbo brakes were also new just 3,000 miles ago and stop the car "on a sixpence". There's a tremendous amount of grip provided by the 4 wheel drive system and huge traction from the 295 wide Michelin tyres on the rear. The suspension feels utterly tight with no abnormal noises made anywhere and the steering is positive and confidence-giving to the driver behind the wheel.
There is a beautifully organised folder filled with paperwork such as invoices for works, HPI certificates, MOT certificates etc. There is also of course the original Porsche leather wallet filled with the original owners manuals and the servicing booklet with the following service intervals completed:
