Intro / Exterior

Beautiful Porsche 996 Carrera 4S, in the classy colour combination of Seal Grey body colour (paint code 6B4), and black leather interior, with a stand-out list of optional equipment and the troublesome IMS bearing upgraded with us in preparation for sale. The coach work is superb, perfectly straight along both sides and free from any damage or scrapes. Our customary FGP day's worth of detailing has been completed, presenting the well cared for paint work in a beautifully swirl-free, glossy, light. Being very highly critical, there are some minor stone chips to the nose of the car, but which don't detract from the overall superb appearance of the car. The headlights present well, without untoward yellow oxidisation, and the original, genuine Porsche Turbo/4S wide bodied alloy wheels are in good condition with Continental Conti Sport tyres fitted to all four corners. The front tyres have 7mm of tread and the rears have 6mm and 3mm.

Interior / Spec

Inside the Porsche is a timeless, desirable black leather interior, which is in fantastic condition throughout. Usual wear points such as the seat side bolstering and steering wheel etc are in good order, and areas such as the carpets and headlining are as-new. Everything inside functions as intended by Porsche, including the air conditioning system. There is a boastful list of optional extras with the car, such as sports hard backed seats with shoulder supports, Porsche crested head-rests, seat heating, alcantara suede headlining, "Tequipment" aluminium embodied handbrake and gearstick, "aluminium look" silver centre console & dial binnacle surround, "aluminium look" silver binnacle dials, "aluminium look" silver centre air vents and airbag strip, PCM satellite navigation system, Bose sound package with built in sub-woofer, Litronic xenon headlights, PSE (Porsche switchable exhaust), and cruise control. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, XCA, XCB, XCD, XCD, XCE, XLF, XSC, X71, X97, X98, 288, 342, 375, 376, 425, 09991.

Mechanics / Drive

Having just completed a lengthy list of jobs that a 911 requires at 17 years old (detailed in the below section), our preparation process has provided a Carrera 4S that feels refreshed and drives precisely as it should. The flat 6 3.6 litre engine starts, idles and performs on the road perfectly, with no oil leaks present, no smoke emitted from the rear and brilliant power. The PSE (Porsche switchable exhaust), which we have just refurbished the back boxes to, provides a gorgeous sound-track when switched to sports mode, but provides a modest exhaust note when turned off. The clutch pedal is light, having been renewed with us while carrying out the IMS bearing upgrade, and the gearbox changes through the six speeds seamlessly. The large 4S/Turbo brakes stop the car fiercely, and there's a tremendous amount of grip provided by the 4 wheel drive system. The suspension is tight, benefitting from new front top mounts, bearings and bump stops while in with us, and the new engine mounts we have fitted provide a taut rear end.

Service History / Sales Prep

The Carrera 4S has a full service history, with the intervals only ever being completed at the Porsche main dealer. The interval dates and mileages are as follows:

As is noted above, we have just completed a service on the car, despite it very recently having one carried out, and this was due to us already having the oil drained while upgrading the IMS bearing. The interval we completed was a "major" interval, including renewal of spark plugs.
