Intro / Exterior

Here we have a gorgeous looking wide bodied 996 Carrera 4S in a very popular guise. A coupe car possessing a manual transmission, found in timeless Basalt Black, and with the sun-roof delete option. Notably, the IMS bearing has been upgraded, so this prominent area for concern is not to cause worry with this example. The coachwork is beautifully straight throughout with no dings or dents to take away from the fantastic curves of the wide body. The Basalt Black (colour code LC9Z) paintwork has been subject to our usual FGP full day's detailing, so is free from any swirl marks and has an eye catching, glossy finish, which is protected. Being highly critical, there is some grazing to the underside of the front splitter and a mark to the rear bumper, but this doesn't detract from the 911's overall superb aesthetics. The original wide body turbo alloy wheels are on the car, which are in very good condition and have Michelin Pilot Sport tyres fitted with 7mm of tread to the front and 5mm of tread to the rear.

Interior / Spec

The Graphite Grey leather interior has worn its years superbly and could pass for a car of less age and miles. Even the normal wear points such as the driver's side bolstering and the steering wheel show minimal signs of wear and areas such as the headlining and carpets etc look nearly new. Everything inside works as Porsche intended for it to, including the air conditioning system, which blows ice cold. There is an array of desirable optional extras specified with the car, including; alcantara suede headlining, litronic xenon headlights, 8-way electric seats, seat heating, rear parking sensors, "Tequipment" aluminium embodied hand-brake and gearstick. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, 288, 342, 425, 567, 601, 635, 446, 601, 680, 692, 601, 610, 635, 650.

Mechanics / Drive

This Carrera 4S has been cared for fastidiously, with maintanance work and renewal of parts carried out in all of the right areas in the last few years (largely detailed in the Service History section below). The IMS bearing was upgraded in 2014 at 52,316 miles, extinguishing the cause for worry in this area. The rear mounted 3.6 litre flat six performs brilliantly and emits a gorgeous sound through its nearly-new stainless steel exhaust back boxes. The clutch is light with a good feel to the biting point, having been renewed 3 years / 9,000 miles ago. The all important manual gear box shifts through its six gears smoothly, and the large Turbo brakes found on the Carrera 4S stop the car with tremendous force, having had the discs and pads renewed to all four corners 4,000 miles / 2 years ago. The handling of the Porsche is beautiful, with positive steering and drum-tight suspension, thanks to the renewal of front top mounts, front top bearings and front bump stops during our preparation process.
