Intro / Exterior
Finished in black-on-black, equipped with a manual gearbox, and in the coupe configuration, this 996 Carrera 4S is of a highly desirable guise. Our sales preparation means that the Porsche has had recent works carried out in all the right areas, such as an IMS bearing upgrade (further details below). The coachwork is beautifully straight throughout with no dings or dents to take away from the fantastic curves of the wide body. The Basalt Black (colour code LC9Z) paintwork has a fabulous glossy finish, is without any notable scratches or damage and has just had its front bumper removed and resprayed with us to remedy stone chips that were present (advert photographs prior to respray). The Porsche has been subject to our usual FGP day's worth of detailing, so the superb condition of the exterior is emphasised and protected. Beneath the car lay its original and genuine wide body "Turbo" alloy wheels, which are in good, unmarked condition, with Continental Conti Sport tyres that are nearly new to the rear and have good tread to the front.
Interior / Specification
A wonderfully cared for black leather interior awaits inside the cockpit. The seats are in undamaged condition, with wear limited to very minor signs to the driver's side bolstering. Other areas that see most usage, such as the steering wheel and hand-brake are also in good condition, and areas such as the dash-board, head-lining and carpets are without a mark. Everything electrical functions correctly, including the air conditioning, which has recently had a new front to rear high pressure pipe fitted, two new condensers fitted, and a system re-gas.
A Sony double-din head-unit has been fitted with touch screen and phone connectivity. Optional equipment supplied with this particular example includes; alcantara suede head-lining, "Tequipment" aluminium embodied handbrake and gearstick, silver backed binnacle dials, anti-dazzling rear view mirror, anti-dazzling driver's wing mirror, headlamp washers, Litronic xenon headlights, rear parking distance control, PCM satellite navigation. There are two remote fobs with the car and one valet key. The optional extra codes are as follows: XCE, X71, X97, X98, 265, 266, 288, 425, 440, 567, 601, 635, 665, 666, 09991.
Mechanics / Drive
It is evident by the way that this 911 drives that it has been cared for meticulously by its previous owners and this is supported by the great service record that accompanies the vehicle. The 3.6 litre flat 6 engine fires to life swiftly, having had its starter motor renewed by us in preparation for sale, idles beautifully smoothly, and revs up crisply, with a tremendous sound produced through the new stainless steel sports back boxes that we've fitted during our preparation process. As is noted above, we have upgraded the IMS bearing in preparation for sale, so this common cause for concern is no more. The gearbox travels through its six speeds seamlessly and the clutch is lovely and light, having just been renewed by us during the IMS works, along with the rear main oil seal. The large Turbo brakes that come equipped on the C4S are in perfect order, with new discs and pads installed to the rear during our preparation process, and front discs and pads renewed in the last 7,000 miles. The suspension is utterly tight beneath the car, having received an array of new suspension components within the last few years (detailed below).
