Porsche 911 996 Carrera 2 manual, registered on 21/05/1998, 57,450 miles, 12 months MOT to be applied prior to sale, full service history, 5+ owners, HPI clear.
Presented here is the opportunity to own a very early and original example of the 996, found with the gorgeous colour combination of Ocean Blue paint colour (paint code L3AZ) and contrasting dark grey leather interior. The photographs of this car really do not do it justice, the bodywork is beautifully straight, without any car park dents or scrapes and the paintwork is in exceptional condition, possessing an untainted deep metallic shine that really catches the eye. There are a few minor stone chips to the front bumper, but other than this, it is hard to fault anything about the physical appearance of the Porsche. While in with us, the 996 also benefitted from a full body soft machine polish and hand wax to emphasise and protect the fantastic condition of the paintwork. The alloy wheels are the original and genuine Porsche BBS GT3 split wheels. All four are in presentable condition and have tyres fitted with decent tread.
As stated earlier, the 996 has a dark grey leather interior, which suits the colour of the exterior perfectly. The interior is a good representation of the car's low mileage, with no damage or significant wear to note. The leather seats are in brilliant order with no sagging or cracks, the dashboard carpets and door-cards are also all in very nice condition and the headlining and rear seats are as new. All the electrical functions inside the cabin work as they should do, including the air conditioning and the retractable sunroof. There is an expensive touch screen head unit fitted with bluetooth and smart phone connectivity which works very well and is a nice upgrade. There are two working remote key fobs present. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, XRB, 220, 222, 224, 234, 490, 650, 939, 982, 09991.
The Porsche is in fantastic mechanical condition, having been meticulously cared for by it's previous owner's, as is documented by the extensive folder of history that is present. The rear-mounted six cylinder engine starts from cold and warm just as it should, and there is no smoking from the exhausts, leaks underneath or abnormal noises within. As noted in the advert title, the IMS bearing has been upgraded, so this potential issue is not of concern with this particular 996. The 300bhp is most certainly still present, with the car capable of accelerating rapidly when called upon. To accompany this sports car performance, the Porsche is also equipped with a sports stainless steel exhaust system, which provides a fitting sound-track. The gear change from the six speed manual gearbox is silky smooth and the clutch peddle is light and engages as it should do. In the corners the Porsche has brilliant grip and feels tight through the steering wheel with no rattles or other abnormal noises coming from suspension components. As stated, this 911 possesses the very rare factory fitted option of a limited slip differential (option codes 220, 222, 224), which provides an even more enjoyable and sporty feeling Porsche in the bends. The brakes stop the car firmly, with the brake pads replaced all round in 2018.
The Porsche has a full service history with 14 stamps in the maintenance booklet all from Porsche main dealer or Porsche independent specialists and a folder filled with documents for maintenance works, HPI reports, sales invoices, MOT certificates etc.
The service intervals are as follows: 08/06/1999 - 5,116 miles, 23/05/2000 - 10,237 miles, 13/12/2001 - 19,119 miles, 12/12/2002 - 23,052 miles, 15/12/2003 - 25,853 miles, 14/12/2004 - 28,541 miles, 10/01/2006 - 30,670 miles, 19/12/2007 - 33,503 miles, 17/12/2008 - 35,832 miles, 25/11/2009 - 37,661 miles, 06/12/2012 - 45,223 miles, 01/02/2018 - 55,830 miles, 05/02/2019 - 57,422 miles.
As noted, the Porsche has just been serviced while in with us, so this will not need doing for another 12,000 miles. Recent works other than routine servicing detailed by the service history file include: IMS bearing upgrade, brake pads all round, spark plugs, brake fluid, stainless steel back boxes, four wheel alignment.
