Intro / exterior
Here we have a lovely, early example of the 996, which has been proudly owned by its previous owner for over a decade. We are very fond of these early cars as they make the driver feel involved due to being light-weight, basic in the way of spec, and cable throttled. This particular car has benefitted from a newly built engine with upgraded cylinder liners and IMS configuration from Porsche specialists "AutoFarm" 42k miles ago. The coachwork is finished in the classic 996 Arctic Silver (paint colour code L92U) and is in superb overall condition. The car is perfectly straight across all panels and there are no unpleasant scratches or scrapes to note. We have treated the 911 to a soft headed machine polish and hand wax and this really demonstrates the fabulous condition of the paintwork, which has a finish like a mirror. We have had the Porsche "twist" style alloy wheels professionally refurbished in the original silver and the four tyres fitted are Continental Conti Sport with approximately 6mm of tread on the front and 4-5mm on the rear.
Within the cockpit is a Space Grey (dark grey / blue) leather interior that has worn its years very well. The seats look fresh, with no sagging or damage and only minimal wear to the drivers side bolstering. The carpets and headlining are all beautifully clean, and the dash and door cards are in nice condition. Everything electrical works exactly as it should including the retractable electric sun-roof and the air conditioning system which has just has had two new condensers fitted by us in preparation for sale. There are two working remote key fobs with the car. As has been mentioned earlier, this particular example is a very basic specced car, which is something we and a lot of our customers prefer, as it leaves a more analogue and involved sports car. The optional extra codes read as follows: XRB, 234, 490, 650, 659, 09991.
The 911 is in superb mechanical condition and is fantastic to drive. Being an early ,basic model, the Porsche is light-weight and therefore nimble in the corners. The 3.4 litre flat 6 has a smooth idle, a crisp rev and tremendous power. It is free from any leaks, smoking or abnormal noises. The Porsche goes through all six gears smoothly, has a light clutch with a good biting point. The brakes stop the car tremendously, benefitting from new discs and pads in all four corners while with us. The suspension is tight throughout all of its components and has had its front upper mounts, bearings and bump stops renewed in preparation for sale by us.
