Intro / exterior
Friends Green Porsche are proud to offer for sale one of the last produced examples in the 996 generation. This particular car was registered on the 26th March 2004, just prior to the release of the 997, and has been spoilt with Porsche's finest optional extras. The Porsche is finished in the very rare, special order Polar Silver paint colour (colour code L92M), which is different to the regular Arctic Silver colour regularly found on this model, as it has a metallic blue tone to it, which changes shade under different lighting. The car also has the factory fitted GT3 aero kit, which accompanied by the unusual colour makes for a 911 that stands out and catches the eye. The condition of the bodywork is brilliant throughout, with only a few barely-noticeable marks to the front bumper, and the headlights are clear, free from yellow oxidation. The Porsche has also been given a full body soft head machine polish and hand wax to emphasise and protect the fantastic condition of the paintwork. Beneath the car lay Porsche turbo style alloy wheels, which are in good presentable condition with Michellin Pilot Sport tyres fitted. The front tyres have approximately 6mm of tread and the rears have approximately 4mm.InteriorThe black leather interior is a fantastic suit to the Polar Silver coachwork. The leather inside has clearly been looked after as it could pass for the interior of a car that is only a few years old. The seats are in brilliant order with no damage or significant wear whatsoever. The door cards, dashboard, carpets and head lining are also all in very nice condition and all the electrical functions operate just as Porsche intended. This particular example benefits from a huge array of optional extras including; special order colour, GT3 aero kit, alcantara suede headlining, xenon "litronic" headlights, stainless steel "Carrera" door shuts, heated seats, Bose sound system, cruise control and PCM satellite navigation. There are two keys with the car and one is a brand new remote fob. The codes for the optional extras on this 996 are as follows: C16, XAG, XRB, X70, X76, 226, 265, 266, 288, 342, 425, 440, 454, 476, 498, 00501, 09991.MechanicsMechanically speaking, the 996 is to die for. The 3.6 litre flat six offers brilliant performance with a sound track to match. There is no smoke produced, no leaks underneath and no untoward noises. The manual gearbox goes through its six gears smoothly and with precision, the clutch operates just as it should do and the brakes produce great stopping power. The handling of the 996 is wonderful, offering a thoroughly enjoyable drive on country back roads where corners are a plenty. There are no abnormal noises from suspension or steering components and the general feel given through the steering wheel is one that is tight and responsive.Service historyThe Porsche has a full service history, including the fully stamped maintenance booklet, the original leather wallet filled with the owner manual etc, and a folder containing paperwork such as invoices for works, HPI certificates, sales invoices, MOTs etc.The service intervals are as follows: 14/11/2005 - 22,200 miles, 24/11/2006 - 30,953 miles, 10/07/2008 - 40,630 miles, 16/12/2010 - 50,454 miles, 14/09/2012 - 58,244 miles, 03/02/2014 - 61,759 miles, 29/02/2016 - 74,537 miles, 01/02/2018 - 86,885 miles, 05/11/2019 - 94,359 miles.
