Intro / Exterior
Here we have a special 911, which stands out amongst the 996 crowd, due to possessing all of the specification that's most sought after by Porsche enthusiasts. Zenith Blue is a colour that suits a car with a GT3 aero kit superbly, and the addition of the M030 sports chassis, dropping its ride height by 10mm, only makes for an even more eye-catching car. The original and genuine BBS "Sports Classic" design wheels further enhance the 911's sporty look, and we have just had a full wheel refurbishment carried out, so they present like four pieces of fine art. The tyres are GoodYear Eagles with good levels of tread remaining. With regard to the condition of the exterior of the Porsche; the body-work is beautiful, with untainted, straight body panels and paint-work that has a deep, glossy finish, also benefitting from our usual day's worth of FGP detailing.
Interior / Specification
Inside the car is a grey leather interior that sits beautifully alongside the blue exterior. The condition inside is lovely, with the optional extra sports hard back seats in very good condition, with minimal wear to the leather. Other areas such as the carpets, headlining and dashboard are in beautiful order and all of the electrical function work perfectly, including the air conditioning system and the electric retractable sun-roof. Desirable options are with the Porsche, including the incredibly rare "014" option, which encompasses an array of specification, such as the already-noted factory fitted GT3 aero kit, M030 sports suspension limited slip differential, and the desirable sports hard back seats with shoulder supports. The 996 boasts further optional extras such as front seat heating, cruise control, Harmann sound package, the "Classic Design" two-piece split BBS alloy wheels, and "Tequipment" chromed tail pipe tips. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, 014, 030, 139, 220, 222, 224, 234, 288, 340, 375, 376, 408, 446, 454, 490, 563, 650, 659, 662, 663, 00501
Mechanics / Drive
Mechanically speaking, the 996 is in superb shape. The rear-mounted 3.4 litre engine is in rude, firing in to life in a a spritely fashion, idling smoothly and possessing fantastic performance. Milltek sports stainless steel back boxes were recently installed, which emit a fitting sound-track. There are no IMS woes to be had with this example, due to the carrying out of an IMS bearing upgrade during our sales preparation process. We also renewed the three-piece clutch kit, so the left pedal is lovely and light with a positive biting point. The all important manual transmission passes through all six gears seamlessly and the brakes on the Porsche are in good condition, stopping the car with force. Through the bends, the Porsche is thoroughly enjoyable, and is set apart from its peers by the M030 sports chassis and limited slip differential, which offer a more sporty and lively driving experience. The suspension and steering is all tight, and during our preparation process we have renewed the front suspension top mounts, top bearings and bump stops.
