Intro / Exterior
A 3.4 litre, rear wheel driven Carrera, with the six speed manual gearbox, and in the coupe configuration, is arguably the "purists" dream specification with a 996, due to its offering of an involving, analogue feeling drive, without too many creature comforts and general non-necessities. This example is also without a sun-roof, furthering its simplicity and presenting a clean and sleek looking roof-line. The coachwork of the Porsche is in fabulous order, with pin-straight body panels and untainted paintwork to match. Ocean Blue (colour code L3AZ) is a fabulous colour that looks like different shades of blue under different lighting. Our customary day's worth of FGP detailing has been completed, presenting its lovely swirl-free, glossy finish. The alloy wheels are genuine Porsche "turbo twist" wheels, which are in unmarked condition with Pirelli P Zero tyres fitted, that have 5-6mm of tread.
Interior / Specification
The Metropol Blue and Savannah Beige coloured interior looks very well alongside the blue exterior. All of the leather is in fabulous order and could pass for that of a much younger car. There is no noteworthy damage anywhere, including to the usual wear points such as the driver's side bolstering and steering wheel. All the electrical functions inside the cabin work as they should do, including the air conditioning system, which we have just treated to two new condensers and a re-gas during our sales preparation process. Optional equipment specified with this example include the Tequipment aluminium embodied hand-brake a gear-stick, three-prong steering wheel, trip computer, suede alcantara headlining, additional door speakers, and the two-tone interior colouring. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes are as follows: X54, X97, X98, 236, 413, 424, 425, 436, 476, 490, 567, 659, 689, 695, 939, 981, 982, 09991, 21431.
Mechanics / Drive
The 911 drives and performs exactly as you would expect a Porsche with such low mileage to do so. The rear mounted flat six is in fine fettle, with a smooth idle, bundles of power and a fantastic sound-track. The potentially problematic IMS bearing issue has been eliminated, as we have upgraded it for our favoured EPS cylindrical unit during our sales preparation process. During this work, we also renewed the three-piece clutch kit, meaning its operation is lovely and light. The six speed manual transmission passes through its gears seamlessly, and the brakes have minimal wear to them, providing great stopping power. The suspension and steering is tight, having had its front top mounts, front top bearings, front bump stops and front lower control arms all renewed during our preparation process.
