Porsche 911 996 Carrera 2 manual, registered on 18/03/1999, 90k miles, MOT 15/08/2019, full service history, 5+ owners, HPI clear.
A wonderfully presented example of the Porsche 996, with the eye-catching Zenith Blue exterior bodywork (paint colour code L3AX), which is in fabulous order throughout. The lines on the Porsche are perfectly straight, with no dents or dings to note. The paintwork is also in healthy condition, with no apparent scrapes, scratches or blemishes. There is the odd stone chip, but nothing that takes away from the Porsche's overall lovely appearance. The car has been subject to a full body machine polish and wax with us at Friends Green Porsche. The alloy wheels are the original and genuine Porsche "twist" wheels. All four are in presentable condition and the tyres fitted are Michelin Pilot sports on the front and Continental Conti-sports on the rear; all with nearly new levels of tread.
The grey coloured interior is a very nice contrast to the exterior. The leather has worn it's 18 years well. The seats have not sagged or suffered notable damage, with minimal cracking to the leather seats. The carpets, dash, door cards and headlining in the car all present brilliantly and could pass for a car of less miles and years of age. All the electrics inside operate as Porsche intended. The air conditioning system has just benefitted from two new condensers and a re-gas, so blows ice-cool. Something that we and many of our customers like about an example such as this, is that it is an extremely basic, analogue 996. The car does not have PSM (Porsche Stability Management), or even TC (Traction Control). It also has very few optional extras; the extras specified to the car being the aluminium embodied Tequipment gear stick and handbrake.
As mentioned above, this is a completely basic example, and as such, the driving experience feels utterly involved and responsive. Being an early car, it has the mechanic throttle, which again gives the car a more analogue driving feel. The Porsche drives without fault: the engine is smooth revving, powerful, without smoke/leaks/tapping noises, and makes an exquisite noise, assisted by the sports stainless steel exhausts that are fitted. As listed in the title, this 996 has benefitted from the IMS bearing being upgraded, which is the renown part of the M96 engine that can prove problematic. The clutch is as it should be with a light peddle and firm engagement. The six speed manual gearbox goes through it's gears smoothly. The handling ability of the car is fabulous; it feels light on it's feet, is positive to steering input and simply feels utterly tight. It is evident that suspension components such as the anti roll bar bushes and lower control arm bushes have been renewed in recent times, and while in with us, we have had a four wheel alignment carried out. The brakes are all in good order and stop the car sharply, having had new pads all round within the last 1,000 miles.
There is a full service history present, including the maintenance booklet, which has 13 interval stamps, some invoices for previous works carried out on the car, HPI certificates, MOT certificates and all the original Porsche owners leather wallets and manuals.
The service intervals are as follows: 13/07/2000 - 10,645 miles, 10/04/2001 - 20,433 miles, 07/01/2002 - 25,395 miles, 20/10/2002 - 40,307 miles, 14/10/2003 - 44,620 miles, 10/12/2004 - 61,741 miles, 26/09/2005 - 66,049 miles, 08/06/2007 - 70,338 miles, 15/07/2009 - 74,567 miles, 20/09/2011 - 78,372 miles, 23/05/2015 - 84,364 miles, 29/05/2016 - 87,235 miles, 16/08/2018 - 90,498 miles.
As noted, the Porsche has just been serviced while in with us, so this will not need doing for another 12,000 miles. In addition to the minor service, we have also had the following renewed: both air conditioning condensers and the system re-gassed, the water pump with the coolant system flushed and coolant renewed, both solenoid seals, the MAF sensor, gearbox fluid, engine lid strut, brake lines treated and 4 wheel alignment carried out.
