Intro / exterior

Presented here is the opportunity to own this fabulous example of the second generation of the 996, in a desirable specification and with the correct maintenance work recently carried out, including an IMS bearing upgrade just carried out by us in preparation for sale. This car is finished in Lapis Blue (colour code L3A8), which always looks brilliant on the 911. The bodywork is in outstanding condition for it's year, with no imperfections to it's beautiful curvature such as car park dings. This particular example is a non-sun roof car, presenting a clean, uncluttered roof-line. We have just completed a full-body soft head machine polish and hand wax on the car and as such there are no swirl marks present and the lovely condition of the metallic paint is enhanced as well as protected. The only notable imperfection to either the paint or coach work is a small scratch near the rear wiper arm. The car sits on the original Porsche "Carrera" alloy wheels, which we have just had refurbished, so are without a mark. All four tyres are N rated Michelin Pilot Sports with minimal wear.

Inside the Porsche is a matching Metropol Blue leather interior. The overall condition is fantastic, with very little signs of wear, even to the common wear points such as the drivers side bolster, steering wheel and hand brake etc. The previous owner has purchased the genuine Porsche GT3 "centre console delete", removing the centre part of the console below the stereo unit, which makes for a tasteful upgrade. Everything electrical inside the Porsche works as it is meant to including the air conditioning system, which blows ice cool. This 996 has some nice optional extras specified including the aluminium embodied "Tequipment" gear stick and hand brake, alcantara suede head lining, "Litronic" xenon headlights, and the aforementioned non sun-roof option. There are two keys with the car, with one being a working remote fob. The codes for the optional extras on the Porsche are as follows: C16, X97, X98, 226, 288, 411, 425, 476, 567, 601, 662, 663, 689, 936, 981, 09991.

Mechanically speaking, the Porsche is in superb order and performs as a 911 should do. As noted above, we have upgraded the IMS bearing, so this potentially troublesome area is no longer of concern with this car. The engine itself idles smoothly, revs cleanly, has fantastic performance with a sound to match emitted through the stainless steel sports exhaust boxes fitted. The six speed manual gearbox offers a seamless gear change and the clutch is light, having also been renewed by us in preparation for sale. The suspension and steering components are tight and the car handles brilliantly with positive steering. The brakes are in perfect mechanical order, having had front discs and pads recently renewed, as well as a brake fluid change completed during our sales prep.
