Porsche 911 996 Carrera tiptronic, registered 30/09/1998, 97,906 miles, MOT 23/06/2021, full service history, 5+ owners, HPI clear.Intro / exteriorHere we have a beautifully kept example of the Porsche 996, which is finished in the increasingly sought after classic combination of Arctic Silver paint colour (paint code L92U) and black leather interior. This example has had its IMS bearing upgraded, voiding this cause for concern, as well as having a fairly substantial suspension refresh by us in preparation for sale (detailed below). The coachwork is fabulous throughout, with no minor car park dents or scrapes and every body panel lining up as it did when it left the factory. The paintwork is equally fabulous, with no blemishes to note, a gorgeous metallic shine, and minimal stone chips present. While in with us, the car has undergone a full-body soft-head machine polish and hand wax, which has removed any "swirl" marks and protected the paint. This particular example is a non sun-roof car, which offers a cleaner and more simplistic looking roof line. The car sits on "turbo twist" alloy wheels, all of which are in good order and have tyres fitted with lots of tread life remaining.InteriorInside the cabin is a black leather interior, which has worn it's years very well. The leather seats look well with no damage or significant wear. The carpets are all in nice condition, as are the door cards, dashboard, headlining etc. Every function inside the car works as Porsche intended, including the air conditioning system, which blows ice-cool. There is an aftermarket head-unit fitted, allowing for phone connectivity, and there are two remote key fobs with the car. The codes for the optional extras on the Porsche are as follows: 197, 249, 424, 432, 441, 573, 686.MechanicsMechanically this is a very well "sorted" 996 that has had money spent on it in all of the right areas. For example, as stated earlier, the IMS bearing has been upgraded, giving peace of mind in the engine-department. The flat 6 engine starts "on the button", idles smoothly and accelerates the car with a vast amount of power. No smoke is emitted from the exhausts, no funny noises are produced and the underneath is dry. The tiptronic gearbox performs just as it should, changing smoothly through the gears and responding quickly to changes in the manual tiptronic mode. As has also been noted, we have carried out a fairly substantial suspension refresh, including four lower control arms, front top mounts, bearings and bump stops, and front drop links. As such, in the corners the Porsche is brilliant fun to drive, providing a great amount of grip and simply feeling tight and responsive. We have also renewed the front brake discs and pads in preparation for sale, and as such, the car stops brilliantly.Service history / sales prepThis Porsche has an impressive service history, including a folder filled with paperwork evidencing all the work that has been carried out on the car over the years. There is also all of the old MOTs, HPI reports, and of course the Porsche leather owner's wallet containing the original manuals and the maintenance booklet with 15 service interval stamps present.
