Intro / exterior

Presented for sale we have this exceptional 997, specified from new with almost every optional extra available, and with its infamous IMS bearing upgraded by us in preparation for sale. The coachwork is in superb order, with the 911's classic curvature free from any car parks dings or scuffs. The Arctic Silver body colour (paint code L9TU) suits the car to a tee, contrasting against the wheel arches and windows etc, showing off its beautiful lines. During our preparation process, the car has been subject to our usual FGP day's worth of detailing to demonstrate and protect the wonderful condition it's in. Beneath lay the original Porsche "Carrera" 5-spoke alloys, which are in pristine condition, having been recently refurbished.  Premium branded tyres are fitted, which have good tread in all four corners.

The cabin is filled by a "Sea Blue" coloured interior, which compliments the silver exterior and makes for a pleasant place to be. The leather is in superb condition throughout, with only minor wear to the driver's side bolster. Other areas that typically show wear, such as the steering wheel, door cards and carpets are in fabulous order and represent the low mileage the Porsche has travelled. Everything works just as it did when it left Stuttgart in 2005, inclusive of the air conditioning system, which blows ice cool. This particular 997 has an eye-watering amount of optional extras, which is a rare find amongst the Carrera models. To name but a few of the features this car boasts; sports hard-back seats with shoulder supports, front seat heating, 8-way electric seat operation with memory positioning, cruise control, steering wheel controls, Bose sound system with built in sub-woofer, rear parking sensors, alcantara suede head-lining, Sports Chrono Plus package. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The option codes read as follows: C16, 025, 288, 342, 377, 378, 431, 454, 538, 567, 601, 610, 635, 640, 666.

Mechanics / drive

The three owners to the Porsche have given it meticulous care and this is demonstrated through the way it drives. The flat 6 motor mounted at the rear starts promptly, idles smoothly, revs cleanly and has fantastic performance. As is detailed earlier in this description, during our preparation process we have upgraded the infamous IMS bearing for our favoured "EPS" cylindrical unit, nullifying this potential problem. While completing this work, we also renewed the clutch, so the operation is beautifully light. The manual transmission passes through all six gears smoothly and the brakes are in excellent condition, having had the front discs and pads renewed by us in preparation for sale. We have also renewed the front suspension's top mounts, top bearings and bump stops, and as such, the 911 feels tight behind the wheel, with positive steering. This 997 Carrera has the uncommon Sports Chrono PLUS package, which unlike the usual Sports Chrono package, comes with a tradition shock absorber without "PASM".
