Intro / Exterior
Here we have a beautiful example of the Porsche 997 Carrera S, which has had its engine fully rebuilt by Hartech. Being an early 997, the car is also in the lower, cheaper road tax category. The coachwork is wonderful with its beautiful curvature free from car park dings, scratches and general damage. The Arctic Silver (colour code L92U) paintwork is in gorgeous condition, free from any scratches or swirl marks and benefitting from our usual FGP full day's worth of detailing. The 997 sits on its original Porsche 19" Carrera alloy wheels, which will be refurbished in their original silver prior to sale. Bridgestone Potenza tyres lay beneath the car with over 7mm of tread in each corner.
Interior / Spec
A Sea Blue coloured interior on an Arctic Silver exterior makes for a classy combination. The leather inside has aged very well, with minimal wear, even to the areas that are most susceptible, such as the drivers side bolster and steering wheel. Every electrical function inside the car works as it should, including the air condition system and the electric retractable sun roof, which is an optional extra on the 997 generation of 911. The Porsche boasts some nice spec such as; front seat heating, 8-way electric seat adjustment, silver coloured instrument dials, alcantara suede headlining, retractable electric sun-roof, Bose sound system with built-in sub-woofer. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, 267, 268, 342, 437, 438, 446, 454, 538, 567, 610, 635, 650, 666, 670.
Mechanics / Drive
As stated earlier, significantly, this example has had its engine rebuilt, including replacement of cylinder liners, at 53,944 miles on 31/08/2015 by renown Porsche engine rebuild specialists, Hartech. As such, the flat six mounted over the rear axle is in rude health and performs like a dream. The clutch was renewed while completing the engine work, so as a result, the clutch pedal is beautifully light, just as it should be. The manual gearbox provides a smooth gear change, and the big "S" brakes stop the car confidently, with lots of life remaining in the discs and pads. The handling ability of the 911 is fantastic; it is a taut and lively sports car when the electronic sports suspension (PASM) button is selected, but a drivable and comfortable car for cruising when the sports suspension is deactivated.
Service History / Sales Prep
Present is the fully stamped maintenance booklet, all of the original Porsche booklets and wallets, and a folder of paperwork relating to the car, such as previously completed works, HPI certificates, MOT certificates, spec sheet etc.
The service intervals are as follows: 07/11/2007 - 21,609 miles, 23/07/2008 - 27,283 miles, 05/05/2010 - 33,473 miles, 07/05/2014 - 52,612 miles, 31/08/2015 - 53,944 miles, 30/08/2016 - 57,294 miles, 03/04/2018 - 64,797 miles, 24/06/2021 - 69,560 miles.
As noted above, the car has very recently been service, and this was a "major" interval, inclusive of spark plugs and brake fluid. At this service interval, the "cross over" coolant pipes have also been renewed, as well as various brake pipes. In preparation for sale, we have had a fresh MOT carried out, as well as refurbishing the alloy wheels, renewing the climate control unit switches, and renewing the O/S/R suspension lower controla arm.
