Intro / Exterior
Presented here is a very desirably specced 997 Carrera S, which is in beautiful condition throughout, and has just had all of the 997 prone mechanical issues attended to during our preparation process and by the previous owner (detailed in the "Service History / Sales Prep" section below). The Porsche has untainted coachwork and Basalt Black (colour code LC9Z) paintwork that possesses a fantastic, glossy, metallic shine. There are minimal blemishes and few stone chips to note. We have just had both bumpers removed and resprayed to remedy the usual stone chips that were present. The Porsche has also benefitted from our usual day's worth of detailing to exhibit and protect its superb physical condition. Beneath lay the genuine Porsche "Lobster Claw" alloy wheels, which are in good condition. The tyres fitted are brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S'.
Interior / Spec
The cabin is filled with a timeless black leather interior, which presents itself very well, with no damage and very subtle wear. Usual wear-points, such as the steering wheel and hand-brake are in lovely condition, and there is only some signs of wear to the driver's side bolstering. Every electrical function operates as it did when new, including the air conditioning system. Desirable options are specified on the car, including the sports hard back seats with shoulder supports, rear parking sensors, silver coloured instrument clusters, and Sports Chrono Package, as well as all the usual features found on the S model. The option codes list as follows: C16, 026, 375, 376, 446, 567, 610, 635, 640, 670, 936, 981, 983.
Mechanics / Drive
Mechanically the 997 is in wonderful condition and has just had a lengthy list of work that these cars often require at this age carried out while in with us (noted below). The engine performs as Porsche intended, leaping into life spiritedly, hainv just had its starter motor and "Y" cable renewed in preparation for sale. There is a fantastic sound and tremendous performance on the road. The IMS bearing was upgraded 5,000 miles ago, so there are no worries to be had with regard to this subject. There are no leaks underneath, no smoke from the tail pipes and no untoward noises from the internals. The six speed manual gearbox provides a rifle-like gear change and the clutch is light with a positive bite, having been renewed 12,000 miles ago. The large "S" brakes provide great stopping force and have had new discs and pads all round within the last couple of hundred miles. The handling ability is just what it should be as a 911; taut and responsive when called upon (i.e. in sports mode), but comfortable and compliant when cruising with sports mode deactivated. The brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres fitted provide excellent grip, and the suspension on the car is absolutely tight, having had numerous components renewed during our preparation process (detailed below).
