Intro / Exterior
Here we have a beautiful Porsche 997 Carrera S, and one that we sold 18 months ago and proudly present for sale once again. This example has the later, strengthened IMS bearing and shaft configuration, nullifying the prominent cause for concern with these cars; IMS bearing failure. The car has been meticulously cared for by its owners and this really shows through its aesthetics. The coachwork is wonderful with its beautiful curvature free from car park dings, scratches and general damage. The Arctic Silver (paint colour code L92U) paintwork is in fabulous condition with a deep metallic shine and free from any scratches or swirl marks, also benefiting from our customary FGP day's worth of detailing. There are a few very minor stone chips to the front bumper, and some barely-noticeable marks, but this is being highly critical. The 997 sits on its original Porsche 19" Sport Design alloy wheels, which are in good presentable condition. Bridgestone Potenza tyres with 7mm of tread are fitted to the front and Good Years with 6mm are fitted to the rear.
Interior / Spec
The black leather interior fulfils the classic and sought after Porsche combination of Arctic silver paint with black interior. Everything inside has worn very well indeed, including the areas that usually show signs of wear, such as the drivers side bolster and steering wheel. The dashboard and optional extra alcantara suede headlining are as new, the door cards and carpets are without noteworthy wear and all of the dials etc are as they should be. Everything electrical function in the car works as it should, including the retractable sun-roof, and the air conditioning system, which has just benefitted from two new condensers and a system re-gas. The Porsche boasts some nice spec such as; sunroof, alcantara headlining, heated seats, litronic xenon headlights, parking sensors and PCM satellite navigation. There are two remote key fobs with the car.
As stated above, the 911 has been cared for meticulously and as such, drives like a dream. The 3.8 litre engine performs just as Porsche intended, with a nice smooth idle, vast power and performance on the road, and a gorgeous soundtrack for company. The engine is bone dry underneath, does not emit any smoke from the exhausts and is free from untoward noises. As detailed earlier, the engine number confirms that the engine in this car has the later, revised IMS bearing and shaft configuration, which is much stronger and does not suffer from the failure that is possible in the earlier 997s. The tiptronic gearbox provides a smooth gear change and the big "S" brakes stop the car confidently. The handling ability of the 911 is fantastic; it is a taut and lively sports car when the electronic sports suspension button is selected, but a drivable and comfortable car for cruising when sports mode is deactivated. This 997 feels particularly tight and responsive due to recently having its front suspension totally refreshed (detailed below).
Present is the fully stamped maintenance booklet, all of the original Porsche booklets and wallets, and a folder of paperwork for works completed to the car.
