This particular car was produced in 1981 making it the series 2 version. The car started life in the two-tone bronze over brown paint work. However, after a loving, comprehensive restoration by the previous owner, it is now found in the beautiful Grand Prix White over blue. The respray work has been carried out properly with all the panels and glass removed prior to being painted, leaving just the bare shell to be painted and all the panels sprayed off of the car. The result is a car that looks gorgeous and turns heads where ever it goes. The condition of the body itself is second-to-none. There is no rust anywhere on the car and nor has there been any welding done to the car previously. There are no car parks dings, dents or abnormally fitting panels - the bodywork really is beautiful. The wheels fitted are the original Porsche 15 inch alloys, all of which are in fantastic condition and have brand new Falken tyres fitted.InteriorInside the 924 you will find the original Porsche black half leather half cloth interior. As is demonstrated by the advert's pictures, the condition is sublime, with no damage or notable wear to be seen anywhere; even the dashboard is in perfect condition with no cracks underneath the windscreen, as is common with this era of Porsche. The carpets inside are in remarkable condition, the headlining is unmarked and the door-cards and sought after small 924 Turbo steering wheel are all in brilliant order. The car does not suffer from any electrical gremlins inside. All of the dials function as they should, the electric windows operate as quickly as they did when new, the pop-up headlights operate properly and even the original radio that is in the car works as it is supposed to. The roller parcel boot cover works perfectly and the lift out sun roof goes in and out as it should and does not leak. To summarise; it would be difficult to find one of these cars with a nicer cabin.MechanicsAs noted previously, the Porsche has been subject to a comprehensive restoration which has resulted in a car that drives and performs fantastically. The 2 litre turbo charged engine has had it's cylinder head removed and rebuilt and it's sump removed to check the bottom end and then new gaskets and seals used in the reassembly. The engine performs perfectly; the internals are lovely and quiet and the exhaust noise sounds wonderful through it's sports exhaust system. The turbo boosts up as it should and provides a real punch in the back of the seat when the throttle is fully applied. The highly sought after manual "dog leg" gearbox shifts through it's gears smoothly, having had a rebuild during the restoration. The clutch was also renewed during the restoration so is also in perfect order. The Porsche handles brilliantly and is incredibly fun to drive. There are no abnormal noises from any suspension parts, thanks to the large majority of these parts being renewed, including new springs, shock absorbers, top mounts, control arms and bushes. The brakes have been fully renewed so they stop the car confidently.Service historyThere is an organised hardback folder of service history put together by the previous owner throughout his 10 year ownership of the car. The folder details all of the work he has had completed during this time, including the full restoration as well as the routine maintenance and servicing etc. The paperwork details the £1,000s upon £1,000s he has spent over this period of time, the most notable works are detailed as follows: Full, panel & glass removed respray with new windscreen, cylinder head rebuild with all the studs replaced with stainless steel, clutch renewal including master cylinder and slave cylinder, upgraded distributor to ECU build (950 Euros!), gearbox removed and rebuilt with new 2nd gear synchro, complete brakes overhaul including new front discs and pads, new rear callipers and pads, new brake lines to braided hoses, new suspension springs, shock absorbers, top mounts, control arms, bushes, water pump, fuel pump, silicone engine hose kit.
