Porsche 911 996 Carrera 2 manual, registered on 01/03/1999, 87k miles, MOT until April 2018, full service history, 3 owners, HPI clear.
A wonderfully presented example of the Porsche 996, with the eye-catching Zenith Blue exterior bodywork (paint colour code L3AX), which is in fabulous order throughout. The lines on the Porsche are perfectly straight, with no dents or dings to note. The paintwork is also in healthy condition, with no apparent scrapes, scratches or blemishes. There is the odd stone chip, but nothing that takes away from the Porsche's overall lovely appearance. The front bumper is due to be removed and re-sprayed to rectify the stone chips present. The car has also been subject to a full body machine polish and wax with us at Friends Green Porsche. The alloy wheels are the original and genuine Porsche "twist" wheels. All four are in un-marked condition and have Michelin sport tyres with lots of tread.
The Metropol Blue coloured interior is a very nice contrast to the exterior. The leather has worn it's 18 years well. The seats have not sagged or suffered notable damage, with only minor cracking to the drivers side bolstering. The carpets, dash, door cards and headlining in the car all present brilliantly and could pass for a car of less miles and years of age. All the electrics inside operate as Porsche intended. The air conditioning system has just benefitted from two new condensers and a re-gas, so blows ice-cool. The car has recently been fitted with a "classic retro" Porsche stereo that has sat nav and bluetooth, but is still in-keeping with the car's age. This stereo was supplied and fitted by JZM Porsche specialists for £822. Something that is lovely about this example is that it is an extremely basic, analogue 996. The only optional extra codes it has are; C16 (english registered car) and 650 (sunroof). There are no 8-way electric seats etc weighing this 911 down.
As mentioned above, this is a completely basic example, and as such, the driving experience feels utterly involved and responsive. The car drives without fault: the engine is smooth reving, powerful, without smoke/leaks/tapping noises, and sounds exquisite. The dual mass flywheel and the clutch have just been renewed at JZM Porsche specialists, so the clutch feel is lovely and light. The gearbox goes through the gears smoothly. The handling ability of the car is intoxicating; this example feels beautifully tight and is so very responsive to any steering input. The brakes are all in good order and stop the car sharply and in a straight line.
This 996 has a superb service record, including a maintenance booklet with 14 service stamps, a hardback folder full of invoices for works completed since the car was new, all the old MOT certificates, past sales invoices for the car, HPI reports etc etc. There is also the original Porsche leather wallet with all the original manuals and cards etc and two keys present.
The service intervals are as follows:
02/03/2001 - 8,039 miles, 02/12/2003 - 13,545 miles, 26/10/2004 - 19,119 miles, 12/08/2005 - 24,491 miles, 22/05/2006 - 35,295 miles, 24/05/2007 - 45,424 miles, 27/06/2008 - 51,662 miles, 05/03/2009 - 55,123 miles, 16/07/2010 - 58,526 miles, 04/05/2012 - 65,111 miles, 10/05/2013 - 69,492 miles, 15/03/2014 - 75,194 miles, 30/03/2016 - 84,868 miles, 13/06/2017 - 87,317 miles.
The service just completed was a "major" service completed at JZM Porsche specialists. They also replaced the clutch kit, duel mass flywheel, spark plug tubes, solenoid seals, and wax oil treated the brake lines. We have also just had new air conditioning condensers fitted with a re-gas, renewal of the starter motor, and a new oil pressure sender In recent years the car has benefitted from; front track control arms, rear track control arms, rear drop links, rear track rod arms, radiator, coolant expansion tank, level sensor, tank cap.
