+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

Friends Green Porsche offer for sale this fabulous looking 996.2 Carrera 4, in the desirable manual, coupe, non-sun roof guise and with its IMS bearing upgraded, nullifying this area of concern. The coachwork is wonderfully straight, free from any previous damage or repairs. Lapis Blue is a stunning colour (paint code L3A8), which has a deep metallic fleck to it and can appear to change tone of colour depending on lighting. The nose of the car has been resprayed as part of our preparation process to remedy stone chip damage and as such, is in pristine condition. The paintwork has also benefitted from our customary detailing process, including a two-stage machine polish and ceramic wax application. The headlights are clear, free from yellow oxidisation, the tail pipe tips are clean and the original 18″ BBS Carrera alloy wheels are free from curb grazes. As noted above, this 996 is a non-sun roof model, presenting a clean, uncluttered looking roof-line.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

A Metropol Blue leather interior lays in the cabin, accompanying the Lapis Blue exterior fabulously. The interior could be from a car of half the years and miles, such is the condition of the leather. The items that often suffer wear, such as the steering wheel and driver’s side bolstering, look fresh and present brilliantly. Other areas such as the carpets, dashboard and door cards are unmarked and all the electric functions operate as intended, including the air ice-cool conditioning system. Choice optional extras were afforded to this 911 from new, such as sports hard back seats with shoulder supports, Porsche crested head rests, and Tequipment gear stick and hand brake lever with aluminium embodied sections. There are two remote key fobs present. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, 226, 375, 376, 411, 424, 425, 567, 689, 695, 936, 981, 983, X97, X98, 09991.

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

Mechanically speaking, the Porsche drives as well as it did when it left Stuttgart in 2002. The engine performs wonderfully, with lots of power, a smooth idle and a brilliant sound track emitted through the stainless steel sports exhaust back boxes that are fitted. As noted earlier, the IMS bearing was upgraded 5,000 miles / 18 months ago, so this potentially worrisome area has been nullified. The gears change through the 6 speed manual gearbox smoothly and precisely and the clutch is lovely and light, having also been renewed, along with the rear main oil seal, when the IMS bearing was upgraded. The brake discs and pads are brand new in all four corners, producing faultless stopping power. The suspension is utterly tight, having had a number of components renewed recently (detailed below). Michelin Pilot Sport tyres wrap all four wheels, with 5mm of tread to the front and 5mm at the rear.

+- SERVICE HISTORY / PREP WORK

The Porsche comes with a full service history, with 13 service intervals stamped in the maintenance booklet, all by Porsche main dealer or Porsche independent specialist.
