+- INTRO / EXTERIOR
Friends Green Porsche offer for sale a needle in a hay stack, otherwise known as a Speed Yellow 996 Carrera 4S with X51 power pack engine. This is the second time we’ve had the honour of selling this very rare example, which is undoubtedly becoming a strong investment piece. The condition of the car is outstanding, with pristine bodywork, that looks like it rolled out of the factory yesterday. The paintwork is unmarked across every panel and there isn’t a single stone chip to the nose, or anywhere else across the car. The headlight faces are crystal clear and the chrome to the factory optioned Turbo style tail pipe tips is spotlessly clean. The original wide-bodied Porsche BBS alloy wheels have just been refurbished and the large Guards Red brake callipers, reserved for the 4S derivative are in good order. This example is a non-sun roof model, offering an uncluttered, sleek roof-line. When preparing the car for sale the first time, we installed a genuine 996 Turbo front splitter, which was colour coded, along with “smoothing” the front bumper number plate mounting points and colour coding the sill side skirts. The result is a “cleaner” looking front end, with a more purposeful and sporty stance, without lowering the car’s ride height.
+- INTERIOR / SPEC
The black leather interior is beautifully kept and represents the low mileage the 911 has covered. The leather is supple throughout, with no cracking to side bolstering or sagging to cushioning. The contact points, which usually show signs of use, such as the steering wheel and gear knob, are unmarked, and other areas prone to wear, such as the carpets and door cards, are also in beautiful condition. Every electrical function operates as Porsche intended, inclusive of the air conditioning system, which blows ice-cool. The 4s’ optional equipment is in keeping with its sporty, uncommon specification, with desirable sports hard back seat with shoulder supports, Porsche crested front seat headrests, Speed Yellow centre lower console and Speed Yellow seat belts. The Porsche also boasts the Bose sound package, Litronic xenon headlights and Porsche’s new PCCM+, with Apple Car Play and DAB radio etc, installed by us when first preparing the car for sale. There are two keys present; one remote fob and one valet key. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, XSC, XSU, XSY, X51, 288, 375, 376, 425, 539, 540, 567, 601, 692, 741, 09991.
+- MECHANICS / DRIVE
The mechanical condition of the Carrera 4S matches that of the exterior and interior. Following our PDI inspection, five page report, and follow-up preparation process, the car is faultless and will provide care-free motoring to its new owner. As is noted earlier on in this description, the Porsche is equipped with the rare and sought after X51 performance engine, which increases the BHP from 320 to 345. This is achieved, in brief terms, by way of; different cylinder heads, camshafts, valve springs, intake manifolds, exhausts manifolds, and DME mapping. The result is not only more power, but a more responsive throttle input, making for an even more exhilarating drive. During our preparation process, we inspected the infamous IMS bearing to confirm the engine is installed with the later, stronger variant. During these works, we also renewed the three-piece clutch kit and the rear main oil seal. The gearbox shifts through all six speeds seamlessly, with a shorter and more precise gear shift provided by the Porsche 997 GT3 shifting mechanism we installed upon first sale. The brakes stop the car powerfully, having had new front discs and pads during our preparation process. We also fitted Milltek Super Cup exhaust back boxes, enhancing the glorious noise emitted by the 3.6 litre boxer engine. The handling of the Porsche is fantastic; the car is tight through its suspension, ultra-responsive to steering input, and has masses of grip provided by the new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, which have 7.0mm at the front and 6.5mm at the rear.
