+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

Here we have a special 911, which stands out amongst the 996 crowd, due to possessing all of the specification that’s most sought after by Porsche enthusiasts. Zenith Blue is a beautiful eye-catching colour, and the original amber side repeaters offer a aesthetically pleasing contrast. The M030 sports chassis drops the ride height by 10mm, exhibiting a more purposeful looking stance. The original and genuine BBS “Turbo Twist” alloy wheels are the very rare hollow spoked variant and present without a curb marking or stone chip. The condition of the exterior of the Porsche is superb; the body-work is beautiful, with untainted, straight body panels and paint-work that has a deep, glossy finish, also benefitting from our usual day’s worth of FGP detailing.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

Inside the car is a grey leather interior that sits beautifully alongside the blue exterior. The condition inside is lovely, with the optional extra sports hard back seats in very good condition, with minimal wear to the leather. Other areas such as the carpets, headlining and dashboard are in beautiful order and all of the electrical function work perfectly, including the air conditioning system and the electric retractable sun-roof. Desirable options are with the Porsche, including the incredibly rare “014” option, which encompasses an array of specification, such as the M030 sports suspension, limited slip differential, and the desirable sports hard back seats with shoulder supports. As already noted, this example also boasts the very uncommon hollow spoked Turbo Twist alloy wheels. The optional extra codes are as follows: C16, 014, 030, 220, 222, 224, 234, 375, 376, 408, 424, 650, 659.

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

Mechanically speaking, the 996 is in superb shape. The rear-mounted 3.4 litre engine fires into life in a a spritely fashion, idling smoothly and possessing fantastic performance. There are no IMS woes to be had with this example, due to the carrying out of an IMS bearing upgrade during our sales preparation process. We also renewed the three-piece clutch kit, so the left pedal is lovely and light with a positive biting point. The all important manual transmission passes through all six gears seamlessly and the brakes on the Porsche are in good condition, stopping the car with force. During our preparation process, we have renewed the front suspension top mounts, top bearings and bump stops, rear suspension lower control arms and rear shock absorbers, followed by a four-wheel alignment. As such, the Porsche is tight, responsive and thoroughly enjoyable through the bends. The M030 sports chassis, limited slip differential, and cable operated throttle, which is only equipped to the early 996s, makes for a combination of specification that’s preferable to a driving enthusiast, as it offers a more sporty and engaging driving experience.
