Friends Green Porsche offer for sale an outstanding Porsche 996 Carrera, benefitting from £20,000-worth of preparation work just completed with us, including the installation of a brand new engine from Porsche, due to IMS bearing failure (detailed below). Shown in the fabulous Seal Grey body colour (paint colour code L64A), a colour that suits the 911’s classic curvature to a tee, this example exhibits wonderfully straight, undamaged body panels. In preparation for sale, our customary detailing process has been carried out, and we have also removed the bumper for respray, eliminating stone ships that were present. The original Porsche BBS 5-spoke 18″ alloy wheels present well and the headlight faces aren’t yellowed from UV oxidisation.

A timeless black leather interior awaits inside the cabin, which has clearly been very well cared for, demonstrated by the lovely condition it’s found in throughout. The front seat are the optional sports hard-backed variants with added shoulder supports. The leather is supple and without significant wear. Areas most prone to marks, such as the steering wheel, gear stick and handbrake, are clean and areas such as the dashboard, door cards and carpets could pass for a car of half its years. All electrical functions operate as intended by Porsche, inclusive of the electric retractable sunroof and the ice-cool air conditioning system. The optional extra codes for this Porsche are as follows: C16, 030, 226, 288, 375, 376, 411, 424, 425, 446, 476, 490, 567, 601, 650.

As mentioned earlier, the 996 suffered IMS bearing failure and as a result, we have fitted a brand new engine from Porsche, which includes the later, stronger variant of IMS and IMS bearing, eliminating the cause of further IMS concerns. Sports stainless steel exhaust back boxes are fitted, putting emphasis on the beautiful flat six engine noise. At the time of renewing the engine, we fitted a new three-piece clutch kit, resulting in a light left pedal, seamlessly assisting the traditional six-speed manual gearbox. Equipped from factory with the M030 sports chassis option, the 996 has slightly stiffer shock absorbers, coil springs and anti-roll bars, presenting a more sporty, purposeful driving experience. The 911 has confidence inspiring handling, with its suspension and steering in good order, with a number of components renewed with us in preparation for sale (detailed below). The brakes are in fine fettle, with lots of life remaining to the discs and pads and excellent stopping ability provided. Pirelli P Zero tyres are fitted at all four corners, with XXmm of tread to the front and XXmm at the rear.

This 996 has a superb servicing record, including a maintenance booklet with 16 service stamps evidencing how the car has only ever been maintained by Porsche main dealer or independent specialists. There is a folder full of invoices for works completed since the car was new, all the old MOT certificates, HPI reports, and more. There is also the original Porsche leather wallet containing all of the original manuals.
