Here we have a fabulous example of the Porsche 996 Carrera 4, which we sold four years ago and have taken back into stock. We have given the 911 our customary mechanical “refresh”, which the majority of 996s need now they’re of this age, which has totalled £7,000 (detailed below and documentation available upon request). The coachwork of the car is in wonderful condition, with pin-straight body panels, no untoward scrapes or scratches, and few minor stone chips to the nose. Finished in Schwarz Metallic (paint colour code L744), a shade of black that has an eye catching bronze metallic fleck, the paint-work presents excellently, with a deep metallic shine and no “swirl” marks, having been subject to our usual FGP day’s worth of detailing. This example is a non-sun roof car, presenting a clean, uncluttered roof line. Beneath the car lay its original Porsche BBS, “Twist” alloys, which are in pristine condition, having just been refurbished.

Inside the car is a Graphite Grey interior that compliments the black exterior wonderfully. The overall condition inside is very good, with no notable damage and only minimal wear to note. The seats looks fresh, with no sagging or discolouring, even to the usually-worn driver’s side bolstering. The alcantara suede headlining, carpets, dashboard and door cards are also all fabulously clean condition. All the electrical functions work just as they are supposed to, including the air conditioning system, which blows ice-cool, thanks to the new condensers we have just fitted. The Carrera 4 is fairly modestly specced, but does have some choice options, such as heated front seats, cruise control and Tequipment aluminium embodied hand brake. There are two remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, 139, 340, 424, 446, 695.

The Carrera 4 is in exceptional mechanical condition, having been cared for meticulously by its previous custodians, evidenced by the extensive service history folder that’s present, as well as benefitting from extensive preparation work with us. The engine performs faultlessly, with a smooth idle, a beautiful noise emitted by the stainless steel sports back boxes that are fitted, and impressive performance on the road. Four years / 7,000 miles ago, upon our first sales preparation of the car, we extinguished the IMS bearing concern by fitting the upgraded EPS cylindrical unit. We also renewed the three-piece clutch kit, meaning the left pedal is light with a positive bite. During our sales preparation, we have removed the gearbox for a rebuild to remedy the fairly common issues with the 996.1 manual transmission, of second gear synchro crunching and pinion bearing whining, saving the next owner from the risk of this significant cost. The brakes have great feel and stopping power, having just had the rear discs and pads renewed with us, and the front discs and pads also renewed by us 4 years / 7,000 miles ago. While with us, a number of the Porsche’s components have been renewed to improve its handling ability, including front suspension top mounts, top bearings, bump stops and engine mounts. We have also fitted four new Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres, which assist the four-wheel drive system in providing considerable grip and traction.

The 996 has a brilliant provenance, made up of a folder filled with paperwork relating to the car, such as invoices for works completed, historic MOT certificates, previous sales receipts, HPI reports etc. The original Porsche leather owner’s wallet is also present, containing the owner manuals and the maintenance booklet, with 15 service intervals completed. All intervals have been completed by the Porsche main dealer or independent specialists, and the intervals dates are as follows:
