+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

This beautifully specified 996, with ultra-low mileage has been cared for meticulously by its three owners and benefits from having its IMS bearing upgraded, nullifying this cause for concern. The coachwork is in outstanding, original condition, straight along all panels and without any untoward marks or signs of previous repairs. The Arctic Silver paintwork (colour code L92U) presents fabulously, with a deep glossy finish, free from scratches and with minimal stone chips. Our customary FGP day’s worth of detailing has been carried out, demonstrating and protecting the beautiful condition of the exterior. This particular example is a non-sun roof model, which offers a clean, sleek looking roof line. Beneath the car lay the original “Turbo Twist” 18″ alloy wheels, which are in original Porsche silver and are without a mark. The headlights are crystal clear; free from yellow oxidisation.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

The striking Boxster Red interior makes for a very special combination, reminiscent of the classic combo found on the Porsche 356. The condition inside is on par with the exterior. The cockpit feels as if it is only a couple of years old, with no wear or damage to note, even to the usual points of wear, such as steering wheel and driver’s side bolstering. The Carrera is equipped with the optional three-prong steering wheel and contrasting black headlining. In terms of further optional extras, the 996 is limited, to the extent that it is even without traction control, which is something we and a lot of our customers are fond of on a first generation example, as being basic and light-weight creates an analogue and engaging drive. All electrical functions operate as they should, including the air conditioning system, which has just been fitted with new pipework during our sales preparation process. There are two remote key fobs.

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

The first generation 996, in the coupe, rear wheel driven guise, and with minimal (unnecessary) optional equipment, is arguably the most “pure” water called 911, offering an engaging drive with an analogue feel alike that offered by its predecessors. This example is so basic in terms of spec, that it is even without traction control. The mechanical aspects of the 911 are on par with the aesthetics; the Porsche feels like the low mileage, lavishly cared for car that it is. The rear mounted 3.4 litre flat six is smooth on idle, revs cleanly possesses great power and a sound-track to suit. As noted, the IMS bearing has been upgraded to our favoured EPS cylindrical unit as part of our sales preparation process, and is therefore good for the lifespan of the car and engine. The all important manual transmission passes through its six gears smoothly and the clutch is light, having been renewed with us, also as part of our sales preparation process. The brakes have lots of life and possess brilliant stopping power. The handling ability is joyous; the 996 feels light on its feet and agile in the corners. The suspension is tight, with no noises over bumps, and the steering is razor sharp. Pirelli P Zero tyres are fitted to all four corners, which have covered just 2,500 miles.
