WALK-AROUND-VIDEO

+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

Presented here is the opportunity to acquire a fabulous example of a very rare and increasingly sought after Porsche 911; the 40th Anniversary Edition 996. The car has been maintained impeccably, and underwent over £6,000-worth of refresh work with us just 12 months / 100 miles ago, for which there is a FGP Prep Book video on (please visit our YouTube channel and navigate to episode 30). The condition of the body is superb, with untainted, original body panels, and gleaming paintwork to match. The special-order shade of silver that all 40th Anniversary cars are delivered in, GT Silver, is a beautiful colour, with a depth to it that the “regular”, lighter silvers don’t possess. Other features that differentiates the 40th Anniversary from other models, include the aero side skirts, the 4S / Turbo front bumper with splitter, and the M030 sports suspension, which lowers the car by 10mm. These features, although subtle, equate to a more purposeful looking 911. As part of the aforementioned refresh works, we had the front bumper resprayed, with the number plate holes “smoothed, offering a clean looking front end. The 5-spoke Carrera alloy wheels have recently been refurbished, and the headlights are clear, free from yellow oxidisation.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

Inside lays an immaculate black leather interior, equipped with all of the features reserved for the 40th Anniversary. The leather to the front seats is supple and unworn, and areas that see most use, such as the steering wheel, hand brake and gear stick are equally as clean. The perforated leather used on the centre panels of the seats give a more “sporty” look to the cabin, and the further usage of this leather to the driver’s touch points, such as the side sections of the steering wheel, the gear stick and the hand brake, make the Porsche feel more driver focused. The body-coloured centre lower console and backings of the front seats are attractive additions and tie in with the Tequipment silver coloured dial surrounds and dashboard airbag strip. Further equipment that comes as standard with this variant include the sports hard back seats, seat heating, Turbo steering wheel with centre stitched panel, alcantara suede headlining, Bose sound system, and Litronic xenon headlights. As part of the works completed 12 months ago, we installed Porsche’s PCCM+ unit, which is aesthetically in keeping with the 996’s interior, yet offers modern features such as DAB radio, Apple Car Play, phone bluetooth connectivity etc. There are two remote keys with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: X99, 425, 440, 567, 665, 666, 670, 680, 692, 09991, 24371.

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

As noted earlier, 12 months / 100 miles ago, the 911 underwent in excess of £6,000-worth of refresh work with us (detailed below), putting the car in pristine mechanical order. The Porsche had also benefitted from having its IMS bearing upgraded just 18 month / 500 miles ago, extinguishing the need for concern in this department. At this time, the clutch and rear main oil seal were also renewed, so the clutch pedal is light and the engine underside is dry. The flat 6 mounted at the rear is in perfect health, idling smoothly, revving cleanly and offering brilliant performance, aided by the X51 engine performance package that the 40th Anniversaries boast, with an added 25bhp at its disposal. As part of the refresh works, we fitted Milltek Super Cup exhaust back boxes, which produce an intoxicating noise under full throttle, but yet are quiet when cruising. The suspension and steering are absolutely tight and responsive, with razor sharp handling, assisted by further special equipment, such as the M030 sports suspension and the limited slip differential. The brakes are all in excellent condition, with lots of life remaining to the rear, and the fronts new 12 months / 100 miles ago. The tyres fitted are Michelin Pilot Sport 2s with 6mm of tread to all four corners.
