+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

Here we have a beautiful example of the Porsche 997 Carrera S, which we first sold 18 months ago, and proudly present for sale once more. We have had the gearbox removed and confirmed it is of the larger IMS variant, meaning there are no concerns to be had in this regard. Being an early 997, the car is also of the lower, cheaper road tax category. The car has been meticulously cared for by its owners and this really shows through its aesthetics. The coachwork is wonderful with its beautiful curvature free from car park dings, scratches and general damage. The paintwork is in gorgeous condition, free from any scratches or swirl marks and benefitting from our customary FGP day’s worth of detailing. GT Silver (paint colour code LM7Z), first introduced with the release of the famous Porsche GT, was an expensive, special order colour and looks fabulous. It is distinctly different from the usual and common Arctic Silver, with a deeper, darker colour tone and a more prominent metallic. The 997 sits on its original Porsche 19″ “Lobster Claw” alloy wheels, which are in unmarked condition, having benefitted from recent refurbishment.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

The grey leather interior is representative of the low mileage the Porsche has covered, with everything inside presenting brilliantly and showing very little signs of wear. Even the areas that see most use, such as the drivers side bolster and steering wheel, are in exceptional order. Every electrical function inside the car works as it should, including the air condition system, which blows ice cool. The Porsche boasts some nice spec such as; Sports Chrono package, multi-function steering wheel, colour-coded centre console, retro-fitted cruise control, retro-fitted short-shifter, rear parking sensors, silver coloured dials. The satellite navigation system in the car has been upgraded to a touch screen Pioneer unit with bluetooth connectivity etc. There are two remote key fobs with the car.

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

As stated above, the 911 has been cared for meticulously and as such, drives like a dream. The 3.8 litre engine performs just as Porsche intended, with a nice smooth idle, vast power and performance on the road, and a gorgeous soundtrack for company. The engine is bone dry underneath, does not emit any smoke from the exhausts and is free from untoward noises. As detailed earlier, we have confirmed the IMS bearing as the larger, stronger variant, so there are no worries to be had in this department. The manual gearbox provides a smooth gear change, and the clutch is light with a positive biting point, having been renewed within the last 10,000 miles. The larger “S” brakes stop the car confidently, benefitting from new discs and pads to the front during our sales preparation, and new discs and pads to the rear within the last 10,000 miles. The handling ability of the 911 is fantastic; it is a taut and lively sports car when the electronic sports suspension button is selected, but a drivable and comfortable car for cruising when the sports suspension is deactivated. Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres with 7mm of tread are fitted to the front and Continental Sport Contact 3 tyres with 5mm of tread are at the rear.

+- SERVICE HISTORY / PREP WORK

Present is the fully stamped maintenance booklet, all of the original Porsche booklets and wallets, and an organised hard-backed folder containing paperwork such as; invoices for works completed to the car, previous sales invoices, historic MOT certificates, and various other miscellaneous items.

As noted above, we have just carried out a service on the car as part of our preparation process, as well as renewing the front brake discs and pads. As detailed earlier, 18 months ago, when we first sold the Porsche, we removed the gearbox and confirmed the IMS to be the later, stronger configuration. Further work completed at this time as part of our sales preparation process included: Major service including renewal of spark plugs, brake fluid change, renewal of auxiliary drive belt, renewal of oil pressure sender, renewal of bonnet damping struts, renewal of cigarette lighter.
