Presented in the stunning “Dark Blue Metallic” and boasting a choice array of optional equipment, this 981 Cayman S makes for a desirable example. The name “Dark Blue Metallic” (paint colour code M5X) doesn’t do the eye catching variant of blue justice. Comparable to, and reminiscent of Porsche’s older variant of blue, named “Ocean Blue”, the colour changes tone under different lighting, with glimpses of deep green and other shades of blue present. The Cayman’s beautifully curved body is uncompromised, as it was specified from new without a sun-roof and without a rear wiper arm, offering a beautifully clean roofline and rear end. Also boasting the optional 20″ Carrera Classic 2 alloy wheels, the aesthetics of this 981 S sets it apart from other examples. The condition of the coachwork itself is superb, with all panels original and “pin” straight, with no scrapes or scratches to the paintwork, and only minor stone chips to the nose. Benefitting from our customary day’s worth of FGP detailing, the paint is swirl-free and protected for the foreseeable.

With its manual gearbox, sports hard-backed seats, sports design steering wheel, PASM suspension, and Porsche Sports Exhaust, this 981 is “GTS-esque” and the perfect “driver’s” spec. The cockpit is filled with black leather, which is supple, clean, and free from any cracks or wear. The contact points, such as driver’s side bolstering, steering wheel and gear knob, are unworn, and other areas such as carpets and door cards are immaculate. To name but a few of the admired optional extras, the 981 has: sports hard-backed seats, sports design steering wheel, PASM suspension, Porsche Sports Exhaust, seat heating, Porsche crested head rests, Bose sound package, cruise control, xenon plus dynamic cornering, front and rear park distance control. The Porsche also of course comes with all the usual “S” specification, such as silver backed dials, extended leather, PCM3 module with multimedia interface and DAB radio. There are two remote key fobs with the car.

As noted above, this example could be described as “GTS-esque”, with a driver’s combination of spec, with its six speed manual gearbox, PASM suspension, Porsche Sports Exhaust, sports hard-backed seats and sport design steering wheel. The naturally aspirated 3.4 litre boxer engine has wonderful performance, with a 7,800rpm rev limiter, 325bhp, and an intoxicating sound-track offered when the Porsche Sports Exhaust is switched into “loud” mode. The six speed manual gearbox passes through all gears smoothly and provides driver engagement not present with the more common PDK specified examples. The handling ability is eye-wateringly good, and the sports design steering wheel is a lovely contact point. The PASM suspension offers a compliant ride when in “normal” mode, and a sharp and sporty suspension when in “sports” mode. The brakes are sharp, with excellent stopping ability and the Michelin Pilot Sport tyres give brilliant grip, with the rears renewed with us as part of our sales preparation process.

The Porsche has a full servicing record, with all maintenance works completed by the Porsche main dealer, but for the works carried out by us in preparation for sale, and the 2021 service carried out by an independent Porsche specialist. The full book pack is present, containing all original owners manuals and the service booklet, evidencing 5 intervals completed. There is also a folder of paperwork, including all maintenance invoices, MOT certificates and even the original bill of sale from Porsche.

The service intervals completed list as follows: 23/10/2015 – 15,693 miles, 17/10/2017 – 29,554 miles, 18/10/2019 – 45,704 miles, 25/06/2021 – 51,865 miles, 01/07/2022 – 63,515 miles.

As is noted above, we have just completed a service on the car in preparation for sale, as well as renewing both rear tyres (Michelin Pilot Sport 4), renewing both air conditioning condensers and re-gassing the air conditioning system.
