WALK-AROUND-VIDEO

+- INTRO / EXTERIOR

Finished in the wonderful, special order GT Silver body colour (paint code LM7T), with contrasting gloss black wheels, wing mirrors, rear spoiler, and side air intakes, and with its body aero-kit, which comes as standard on the Cayman R, this example presents an aggressive, purposeful looking Porsche. The condition of the bodywork is beautiful, with perfect panel gaps, pin-straight panels, and untainted paintwork. While in with us, we have removed the front bumper and had it resprayed to rectify stone chips that were present. Our usual FGP day’s worth of detailing has also been completed, emphasising the wonderful aesthetics of the Porsche and protecting its paintwork for the foreseeable. The Cayman rests on its original, light weight wheels, which were exclusive to the Cayman R and limited edition Boxster Spyder, and are in unmarked condition.

+- INTERIOR / SPEC

The R variant of the Cayman comes as standard with very little equipment or options. However, this example has been heavily optioned, making it the perfect blend of being driver-focused, but retaining a level of refinement for road use. Come equipment that doesn’t come as standard, which can be deemed necessary for road use, and has been added to the option sheet of this example, includes; cup holders, air conditioning, a radio/head unit (PCM 3), and xenon Litronic headlights. To name but a few other optional extras on the Porsche, it comes with: Park distance control, sound insulation measures for interior noises, cruise control, head lamp washers, Guards Red coloured seat belts, Sports Chrono Plus package, Bose sound package. The car is also specified with the sports seats, as opposed to the bucket seats, therefore offering more conform for road use, but retaining good side support, with the additional shoulder supports that the sports seats have. The general condition of the interior is superb, with very little wear. The alcantara sports design wheel, which comes as standard on the R, was showing wear to the alcantara, which isn’t as durable as leather, so we have had it professionally reupholstered, now presenting as new (photos prior to reupholstery).

+- MECHANICS / DRIVE

The Cayman R benefits from 10 more horse power than the standard “S”, and is 50kg lighter, mainly through means of aluminium doors and light weight alloy wheels. As a result, the car feel more alert and noticeably quicker than an “S”. The R also comes with a sports suspension package as standard, but this example has benefitted from a comprehensive suspension refresh (detailed in full below), including the installation of a fully adjustable Ohlin coil over set up. The Porsche is fantastically responsive and positive in the corners, and the adjustability of the suspension means it can be softened or hardened to suit the driver’s preference, or the type of driving being completed, with ease. The R also boasts a limited slip differential as standard, enhancing the lively feel of the car further. The Good Year Eagle F1 Super Sport tyres on the Porsche provide sublime grip and traction, and are just 5 months / 5,000 miles old. The brakes provide fantastic stopping ability. The PDK gearbox offers an instantaneous gear change, with its characteristics changed drastically depending on whether the car is in normal mode, sports mode, or sports plus mode.

+- SERVICE HISTORY / PREP WORK

A comprehensive servicing record is with the Porsche, including the maintenance booklet with 9 interval stamps present, and an A4 folder filled with paperwork evidencing the money-no-object approach the previous owners have adopted with the Cayman’s care. The original Porsche leather owners wallet is also present, with all of the original owners manuals.

The Porsche has only ever been looked after by Porsche main dealer or independent specialist, and the intervals completed are as follows: 27/09/2013 – 9,637 miles, 14/09/2015 – 16,734 miles, 21/07/2016 – 27,920 miles, 15/12/2016 – 35,393 miles, 27/06/2017 – 44,015 miles, 08/03/2018 – 53,976 miles, 21/05/2019 – 72,356 miles, 25/03/2020 – 84,720 miles, 02/06/2021 – 94,983 miles.

The last interval was a major service, including spark plug renewals, and at this time, new Good Year Eagle F1 Super Sport tyres were fitted. As noted earlier, a comprehensive suspension refresh has been completed in the last couple of years, which includes renewal of: 2x front suspension top mounts, 2x front suspension top bearings, 4x lower control arms, 4x Ohlin coil overs, 4x anti roll bar drop links, four-wheel alignment. Other notable work includes the fitting of braided brake hoses and the GT3 type master cylinder in 2017.
