Intro / exterior

Almost certainly the most exceptional example of the Porsche 996 Carrera available for purchase in the country, here we proudly present for sale, for the second time, this gorgeous Guards Red example, found in pristine condition and with the most desirable of factory equipped specification. Examples like this are scarce, and it is this particular car that is very quickly becoming a collectible and is appreciating significantly in value. The Porsche has had all of the commonly required maintenance work and upgrades carried out, including the IMS bearing, which we carried out two years ago. The car was finished from the factory in the classic Porsche Guards Red colour (paint code L84A), which of course suits the 911 to a tee. The GT3 aero kit was also factory equipped, which alongside the Guards Red paintwork makes for an incredibly eye-catching sports car. The roof is found without a sun-roof, which presents a clean looking roof-line, and the enlarged, chrome "Tequipment" tail pipe tips, which were also specified from new, add further to this special 911's stand-out looks. Beneath the Porsche lay the car's original and genuine BBS "Turbo Twist" alloy wheels, but again, these are a rare and sought after version of this wheel, being the hollow spoked variant. The wheels are in unmarked condition and have brand new Michelin Pilot Sport N rated tyres fitted.

Inside the car is a contrasting Savannah leather interior that is in wonderful condition throughout, as would be expected of a Porsche on such low a mileage. The seats are all in lovely order, the dashboard, carpets, door cards and optional extra alcantara suede head-lining etc also all represent the car's exceptionally low mileage and everything electrical in the Porsche works just as it should, including the air conditioning system, which has benefitted from recent condensers, new seals on the pipes and a re-gas. There are two remote key fobs present. The optional extra codes on this car are as follows: C16, XRL, 236, 424, 425, 567, 689, 695, 790, 936, 981, 983, 09991.

Mechanically speaking, the Porsche drives as well as it did when it left Stuttgart in 1999. The engine performs wonderfully, with lots of power, a smooth idle and a brilliant sound track emitted through the brand new stainless steel sports exhaust back boxes that are fitted. The IMS bearing was upgraded by us when we sold the car two years / 300 miles ago, so this potentially worrisome area has been nullified. The gears change through the 6 speed manual gearbox smoothly and precisely and the clutch is lovely and light, having also been renewed by us when the IMS bearing was upgraded. The brakes are in good order and stop the Porsche "on a six pence". The suspension is utterly tight and provides steering that is positive and precise, which gives great confidence to the driver in the corners. There is also a vast amount of grip and traction thanks to the new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres on the car.

As noted, the Porsche has just been serviced while in with us, even though it has only covered a handful of miles since its last service (also by us). In addition, we have also had a fresh MOT carried out, as well as renewing the front upper suspension mounts, front upper suspension bearings, front suspension bump stops, and the air conditioning pipe seals, followed by a system re-gas. When we first sold the car two years / 300 miles ago, in preparation for sale, we gave the car a major service, a brake fluid change, upgraded the IMS bearing, renewed the clutch, renewed the rear main oil seal, renewed the rear suspension lower control arms, renewed brake lines, renewed the air conditioning condensers and had the front bumper resprayed. Also during the previous owner's two years / 300 mile ownership, new stainless steel sports exhaust back boxes were fitted, as well as 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport N rated tyres and a 4 wheel alignment.
