Intro / Exterior

Presented here is the opportunity to own this fabulous first generation 996, in a desirable specification and with an exceptional maintenance record, including an IMS bearing upgrade. This car is finished in Lapis Blue (colour code L3A8), which always looks brilliant on the 911 and the contrast of the Savannah leather interior makes for a special looking example. The bodywork is in outstanding condition for its year, with no imperfections to its beautiful curvature such as car park dings, and there are very few marks or stone chips to note. This particular example is a non-sun roof car, presenting a clean, uncluttered roof-line. We have completed our usual FGP day's worth of detailing on the car and as such there are no swirl marks present and the lovely condition of the metallic paint is enhanced as well as protected. The car sits on the original Porsche "Turbo Twist" alloy wheels, which we have just had refurbished, so are without a mark. Good Year tyres are fitted to all four corners, with very good life remaining.

Interior / Spec

As touched upon above, the contrasting Savannah interior makes for a special looking 911, that certainly draws the eye and stands out amongst the 996 crowd. The overall condition is fantastic, with very little signs of wear, even to the common wear points such as the drivers side bolster, steering wheel and hand brake etc. The previous owner has purchased the genuine Porsche GT3 "centre console delete", removing the centre part of the console below the stereo unit, which makes for a tasteful upgrade. Everything electrical inside the Porsche works as it is meant to including the air conditioning system, which blows ice cool. This particular 996 is of a very basic specification, with no optional extras specified from the factory, to the point that it is even without PSM (Porsche Stability Management). A basic-specced 996 is something we and a lot of our customers are partial to, as it offers a more "pure" and "analogue" driving experience. The car does have cruise control, but this has been retro-fitted with genuine Porsche parts.

There are two remote key fobs with the car and the specification codes are as follows: C16, 424, 425, 436, 567, 689, 695, 936, 981, 983.

Mechanics / Drive

The 911 has had money spent in all the correct mechanical areas (detailed in the below "Service History" section), and as such, is an absolute pleasure to be behind the wheel of.  The IMS bearing was upgraded 14,000 miles ago, so this potentially troublesome area is no longer of concern with this car. The engine itself idles smoothly, revs cleanly, has fantastic performance with a sound to match emitted through the stainless steel sports exhaust boxes fitted. The six speed manual gearbox offers a seamless gear change and the three-piece clutch kit is lovely and light beneath the left foot, having been renewed at the same time as the IMS works. As noted earlier, this is a basic 996 in terms of spec, and as such, the car feels involving and nimble on the road. The handling ability is fantastic, and feels utterly tight, having had an array of suspension components renewed, including installation of the M030 Porsche sports suspension package (detailed in the below section). The brakes on the car were all renewed just 7,000 miles ago, so are in perfect order with lots of life remaining.
