Intro / exterior
Here we have a gorgeous looking wide bodied 996 Carrera 4S with extremely low mileage and a £10,000 Hartech engine rebuild. The previous keeper to this Porsche owned it for six years and had a small collection, and the owner prior to him was a doctor who had it a similar amount of time. The invoices present evidence how money was no object to these two enthusiasts when it came to the car's maintenance. Finished in the timeless combination of black-on-black and specified with sought after options, this example is a highly desirable Porsche. Notably, the car is a non-sun roof model, which presents a clean, sleek looking roof line. The coachwork is beautifully straight throughout with no dings or dents to take away from the fantastic curves of the wide body. The Basalt Black (colour code LC9Z) paintwork has an eye catching glossy finish and is without scratches or damage. There are some very minor stone chips to the nose of the car, but this is all in the way of imperfections. We have given the Porsche a full body soft machine polish and hand wax so the car is free from any swirl marks and the paintwork is protected. The original wide body turbo alloy wheels are on the car, which are in very good condition and have Bridgestone Potenza tyres fitted with approximately 7mm of tread on the front and 4mm of tread on the rear.
The black leather interior looks very well having suffered little wear and no damage. Even the normal wear points such as the drivers side bolstering and the steering wheel show minimal signs of wear and areas such as the headlining and carpets etc look nearly new. Everything inside works as Porsche intended for it to and as noted above, there are desirable optional extras specified with the car such as; alcantara headlining, litronic xenon headlights and sports hard back seats. There are two operational remote key fobs with the car. The optional extra codes read as follows: C16, 288, 375, 376, 424, 425, 539, 540, 567, 601, 689, 695, 635, 662, 663, 00501, 09991.
As noted earlier, this Carrera 4S benefitted from a full engine rebuild with renown Porsche engine rebuilders, Hartech. The cause for the engine rebuild was scored cylinder liners and the work was carried out in 2012 at 49,000 miles. The rebuild included upgrading the IMS bearing and shaft, so there are absolutely no worries to be had with the fresh 3.6 litre flat six mounted to the rear of this car. The car was fitted with stainless steel sports exhaust back boxes 2,000 miles ago, which emit a wonderful noise. The clutch is light with a good feel to the biting point and the manual gear box shifts through the six gears smoothly. All the brake discs and pads were renewed 2,000 miles ago so stop the car powerfully. The handling of the Porsche is beautiful, with positive steering and drum-tight suspension, thanks to a fairly comprehensive suspension overhaul 9,000 miles ago (detailed in the service history section below).
There is a formidable servicing history with the Porsche, with a folder brimmed with paperwork detailing works carried out on the car right back to when it was new, evidencing how every keeper has cared for it meticulously.
